Title: “Better Executives Work at Better Firms: Identifying Talent Sorting from Mobility Networks”

Abstract: Do better executives work at more productive firms? Using several decades of data on Hungarian firms and their executives, we build a measure of executive talent from the mobility of executives across firms and study sorting between talent and firm productivity. The method relies on the firms’ and executives’ mobility networks, and the results document a strong positive relationship between executive talent and firm productivity. The presentation will also go into the methodological details, of particular interest to anyone working with corporate networks or with network data more generally.
